Look, I'll be straight with you - this whole thing started in my dad's garage back in 2003. I was sixteen, and we'd just bought this beaten-up '89 BMW 325i for cheap. Thing barely ran, but man, something about that inline-six just spoke to me.
Spent two years rebuilding that car from the ground up. Learned everything the hard way - busted knuckles, wrong parts ordered three times, transmission fluid everywhere. But when we finally got her running smooth? That feeling was something else.
After trade school and working at a couple dealerships, I realized I didn't want to be just another wrench turning bolts on cookie-cutter jobs. European cars - especially the classics - they've got soul. They need someone who actually gives a damn, y'know?
So in 2011, I opened Shadow Rent Haven in this little 2-bay shop. Name came from my grandpa who used to say every good car deserves a "haven" where it's treated right. We've grown to 6 bays now, but the philosophy hasn't changed one bit.
First hands-on restoration project. That BMW taught me more than any textbook ever could.
Completed automotive tech certification. Started specializing in European diagnostics at a local dealership.
Opened Shadow Rent Haven with 2 bays and a dream. First customer was a '72 Porsche 911 that needed a complete engine rebuild.
Expanded to 4 bays. Added performance tuning capabilities and got our first dyno setup.
Brought on three master techs who share the same passion. Started taking on more complex restoration projects.
Moved to our current 6-bay facility. Invested in cutting-edge diagnostic equipment while keeping that personal touch.
Now working on some of the most incredible European machines in Vancouver. Every day's different, every car's got a story.

We've got a solid team here - six techs total, and honestly, they're what makes this place work. Everyone brings something different to the table.
Marcus handles most of the classic restorations - guy's got an eye for detail that's almost scary. Sarah's our diagnostic wizard - if there's an electrical gremlin hiding somewhere, she'll find it. And Diego? Man can rebuild any transmission blindfolded, swear to god.
We've also got Jake, Emma, and Chris rounding out the team. All of 'em have been here at least three years, which says something. We don't do the revolving door thing - when you find good people who care about the work, you hold onto them.
Everyone here's got their own specialties, but we all pitch in on whatever needs doing. That's just how it works when you actually give a damn about what you're building together.
Bring your European ride by and let's talk about what it needs. No pressure, no BS - just honest conversation about your car.
